The plastic film is typically formed, first or second surface decorated, and backlit with second surface light compensation. If a dead front is required, screen-printing is the logical option. IMD offers the most options in the manufacture of buttons. Profile currently manufactures buttons for automotive, farm equipment, and industrial. The plastic film is decorated first or second surface and formed. The Key Advantages are color options including chrome, changeability, backlighting and dead fronts. These can be hard coated to produce a very durable finish.

Hard Coated Lens is an excellent application for plastic film insert IMD. Applications include hand held devices like glucose meters and cell phones. The film insert is hard coated and the graphics are second surface printed. The graphics are protected between the film and the resin. The Key Advantages of the IMD lens over other plastic lenses are quality of the graphics and durability
of the hard coat.

This customer was looking for a unique look to decorate their product. This
part has the look of 3-D depth as well as embossed chrome. We call it a
jewel.

The keypad starts with a .005” thick PC stock. The stock is second surface printed. The printed sheet is then formed, molded, and cut. Each key is filled with resin individually so the .005” stock becomes the suspension of the keypad. The prime application is cell phones. The Key Advantage is the keypad can be incorporated into the case providing a sealed case/keypad one-piece unit.
